Which Squarespace Templates Have Parallax Scrolling?

6 mins

As of right now, the only Squarespace templates that have parallax scrolling are the templates that come with the Parallax upgrade.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of information out there about which custom-coded templates have parallax scrolling, but I’m sure if you do some digging you’ll be able to find something that works for you.

Parallax scrolling is a web design technique where the background image moves at a slower rate than the foreground image, creating a 3D effect as you scroll down the page.

This can be a great way to add depth and interest to your site, and it’s also relatively easy to implement. Some of the templates are Atlantic, Basalt, Brine, Cascade, Coastline, Currents, Deluge

In this article, we’ll take a look at which Squarespace templates have parallax scrolling available, as well as how you can add this feature to your site.

What is Parallax Scrolling?

Parallax scrolling is a technique in computer graphics where background images move past the camera more slowly than foreground images, creating an illusion of depth in a 2D scene and adding to the immersion. The term “parallax” comes from the Greek word parallaxis, meaning “alteration”.

In web design, it refers to the concept of layering two or more backgrounds on top of each other that seem to move at different speeds when you scroll down the page.

Why Use Parallax Scrolling?

There are a few reasons you might want to use parallax scrolling on your Squarespace website:

  1. To add visual interest and variety.
  2. To tell a story or create a mood with moving images and text.
  3. To direct visitors’ attention to specific content on your page.
  4. To make your site more interactive and engaging overall.

5 Ways to Use Parallax Scrolling on Your Squarespace Site:

Adding Visual Interest with Background Images

One way to use parallax scrolling is simply to add some visual interest to your pages with layered background images. This can be especially effective if you have beautiful photos that you want to showcase, or if you want to add some texture and dimensionality to your design without overwhelming visitors with too much information at once.

Telling a Story or Creating a Mood
Another great way to use parallax scrolling is by using it as part of a larger storytelling strategy for your website. You can use multiple layers of images and text combined with strategic placement of content blocks on your page to create a feeling or mood as visitors scroll through your site – kind of like an interactive movie!

Directing Visitors’ Attention
If there’s something specific you want visitors to focus on as they’re scrolling through your page (like an important call-to-action), then using parallax scrolling can help guide their eyes exactly where you want them to go.

Parallax Scrolling CSS

Parallax scrolling is a web design technique in which the background image of a website moves at a slower rate than the foreground content, creating an illusion of depth and dimension.

This effect can be achieved using CSS alone, without any JavaScript code. In this article, we’ll show you how to create a simple parallax scrolling effect using only CSS3 transitions.

The key to creating the parallax effect is to specify different speeds for different elements: the background image should move at a slower speed than the foreground content.

For example, if the background image is moving at a speed of 2px per second, then the foreground content should move at a speed of 1px per second. This will create the illusion that the background image is further away from the viewer than the foreground content.

To create this effect, we’ll use two elements: one for the background image and one for the foreground content. We’ll set up both elements so that they’re absolutely positioned on top of each other; then we’ll set different transition speeds for each element. The result will be an elegant parallax scrolling effect!

Squarespace Continuous Scroll

The continuous scroll is a feature in Squarespace that allows your visitors to keep scrolling down your page without having to click on a pagination link.

This can be a great way to keep your visitors engaged with your content, as they can simply scroll down to see more. It also eliminates the need for you to set up pagination, which can be a time-saving measure.

To enable continuous scrolling on your Squarespace site, simply go to the Design tab and then click on the Page Layout options. From there, select the Continuous Scroll option. Once you’ve done that, all of your pages will automatically have continuous scroll enabled.

There are a few things to keep in mind when using the continuous scroll.

First, it’s important to ensure that all of your content is well-organized and easy to navigate. Otherwise, your visitors may get lost while scrolling down your page.

Second, you’ll want to make sure that you have enough content to fill an entire page before enabling continuous scroll – otherwise, you may end up with empty space at the bottom of your pages.

Finally, if you have any forms or other interactive elements on your pages, you’ll want to test them out thoroughly before enabling continuous scroll otherwise, users may not be able to submit them properly.

Overall, continuous scrolling can be a great way to enhance the user experience on your Squarespace site. Just be sure to take into consideration the tips above before enabling it!
